The town of Gerardmer is set on the edge of a lake surrounded by mountains, making it an ideal destination in all seasons.
Swimming, watersports and fishing are the attraction in the summer, while in winter its ski resort, La Mauselaine, has 21 downhill ski runs as well as many other outdoor activities.
Chalet L'Ursus is just a 5-minute drive from the lake, the ski lifts and the town centre, where you will find all the shops and amenities you need. There's also a good choice of restaurants where you can try the area's delicious mountain cuisine.
About the property…
Perched on the heights of Gérardmer, Chalet L'Ursus invites you to enjoy a real break away in the heart of the Vosges. Spread over three floors, this cosy, contemporary chalet can accommodate up to 6 people (up to 8 people if you use the lounge's sofa bed), ideal for holidays with family or friends, in summer or winter.
As soon as you enter, you will discover a bright and open living room, bathed in light thanks to large bay windows. These open onto a first terrace furnished with a table for six guests, perfect for sharing meals while enjoying an exceptional panoramic view of the mountains.
The lounge, designed for relaxation, offers comfortable sofas, a television and a gas fireplace, ideal for creating a cosy atmosphere after a day outdoors. The modern, fully equipped kitchen will appeal to cooking enthusiasts: induction hob, central island, several coffee machines... everything you need for convivial moments around the large dining table... not to mention the dartboard, perfect for fun during aperitif time... A bathroom with an Italian shower and separate toilets complete this level.
Under the roof, a mezzanine has been converted into a children's bedroom and play area. It has two single folding beds and a desk.
The ground floor is dedicated to relaxation and well-being. It includes a sauna and two double bedrooms, each with a television. These rooms open onto a bathroom with a walk-in shower and a large terrace with a built-in jacuzzi, perfect for relaxing with a view.
A laundry room with a washing machine and dryer is also located on this floor, as well as a table football game and separate toilets.
You can park up to three cars outside Chalet L'Ursus, including one under a covered shelter, where there is also a charging station for electric vehicles and a secure ski locker. Finally, the property has a garden of approximately 400 m².

Gérardmer, the “Pearl of the Vosges”, is located in eastern France, near La Bresse and Épinal. Nestled among pine forests and rolling mountains, the town stretches along the shores of a stunning natural lake. Gérardmer is popular with families, nature lovers and sports enthusiasts, thanks to its friendly atmosphere and beautiful countryside that is perfect for relaxing and exploring. Its lively centre has a good choice of shops and restaurants as well as a local market, making it an ideal destination all year round.
In winter, snow sports enthusiasts flock to the town’s La Mauselaine resort, which has 21 ski slopes and 30km of cross-country ski trails. The surrounding plateaus are ideal for snowshoeing or winter hiking. Younger visitors will enjoy the toboggan runs and the charm of the village, which is lit up for the season, bringing a warm and festive atmosphere.
During the rest of the year, Lake Gérardmer is the centre of attention. Visitors and locals can enjoy swimming, sailing, canoeing and paddleboarding, while hiking and biking trails wind through the Vosges forest, offering superb views. Festivals, craft markets and lakeside walks add to the delights of the summer season.

Sitting in the hills above Gérardmer, guests at Chalet L'Ursus can enjoy unobstructed views of the Vosges hills and forests. The accommodation is spread over three floors, with plenty of room for up to six guests.
As soon as you enter, you will be struck by the natural light which floods into the spacious living room through large south-facing windows overlooking the valley. A contemporary gas-fuelled fireplace keeps the atmosphere cosy on winter evenings.
Sofas are arranged around the TV, and the modern kitchen opens onto a dining table where you can enjoy meals together. In good weather, you might choose to eat on the terrace, where a second table allows you to enjoy the Vosges landscape.
Younger guests will appreciate their own space under the eaves, where a mezzanine floor offers two single folding beds and a desk for studying or remote working during your stay.
The garden level is dedicated to rest and well-being, with two double bedrooms, a sauna, a second terrace and an outdoor hot tub, as well as a 400m² garden. This level also has a bathroom with a walk-in shower and a table football game.
On the practical side, Chalet L'Ursus offers three parking spaces with a charging station for electric vehicles, a secure ski locker and a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer.

At first, we were simply looking for a small renovation project in the Vosges, a modest second home for our mountain getaways.
Chance led us to Gérardmer, where we found a plot of land with breathtaking views of the mountains.
It was love at first sight.
Seduced by the beauty of the place and the peaceful atmosphere, we decided to build our own chalet and share this corner of paradise with holiday guests.
Our vision for Chalet L'Ursus was much more than just a place to stay: we wanted to create a refuge, a retreat in the heart of the Vosges countryside.
The name “Ursus” means “bear” in Latin, a symbol of quiet strength and harmony with the mountains. For us, the bear represents both the wild nature of the Vosges and the warm retreat we wanted to offer our guests.
We designed this chalet as a haven of peace, combining contemporary and traditional features, where wood and stone meet. Every detail has been designed to recreate that simple feeling of well-being you get when walking in the forest or sitting by the fire.
Chalet Ursus was also a family dream: a place where we could share our love of Gérardmer, the mountains and the lakes of the Vosges, where everyone can reconnect with what matters most. Today, we are delighted to welcome guests who come to recharge their batteries, share time with friends or enjoy a break in nature as a couple or with their family.
